MontroseAirport bnSAM Magazine—Telluride, Colo., Aug. 24, 2016—In addition to the return of regular commercial flights into Telluride Airport (see earlier report), increased traffic into nearby Montrose will also ease access to Telluride this winter. Montrose is getting new Denver service with the addition of twice-weekly Allegiant Air flights. In addition, the region will see a major jump in service to Montrose on the American Airlines network.

The additions amount to an overall increase in air service to the Telluride region of approximately 12 percent from last year, and nearly 40 percent over the past three years.

American Airlines will operate twice-daily peak season flights from Dallas/Ft. Worth, including mainline jets. Flights from Phoenix will run daily through the season, rather than last season's two to five days a week. Service will also continue from Chicago and Los Angeles.

From Denver, United operates three to six Montrose flights daily. United also flies larger jets from Houston on Saturdays, and adding a flight to make three-per-week from San Francisco. Daily flights continue from Chicago, with 1-3 flights weekly from New York (both LaGuardia and Newark) and Los Angeles.

“We're continuing to charge up the ladder of accessibility,” said Colorado Flights COO Matt Skinner. “We now rank among the best in mountain airports for direct flight options, and are one of the few to have major network connectivity, a low cost carrier, and flights that land just 10 minutes from the slopes.”
