SAM Magazine—White Haven, Pa., Sept. 29, 2016—Nearly 20 member ski areas are again participating in the Pennsylvania Ski Areas Association First-Time Ski and Snowboard Program, which offers PSAA emailsize$49 advance-purchase learn-to packages valid any day—including weekends and holidays—during the 2016-17 season. The package includes a beginner lift ticket, beginner group lesson, and rental equipment.

The learn-to package must be purchased on the PSAA website, and quantities are limited. Some restrictions do apply and vary per ski area, including minimum age requirements that range from 4 to 12 years old; Tussey Mountain is the only participating area with no age minimum.

In addition to the First-Time Program, PSAA also offers the 4th & 5th Grade Snow Pass, a non-transferrable swipe card good for a max of three free days at 19 participating ski areas (including Crystal Lake Cross Country Center) when the passholder is accompanied by a ticketed adult. The Snow Pass also includes one free learn-to package at each participating ski area. According to the PSAA website, this program ”helped nearly 10,000 kids get on the slopes of Pennsylvania last year.”

PSAA and its member ski areas are all-in when it comes to introducing people to skiing and snowboarding.
