SAM Magazine—Killington, Vt., Feb. 23, 2017—Resort managers and operators from across North America will gather at the 2017 edition of SAM's Summer Ops Camp, Sept. 5-7, summeropslogoat Killington in central Vermont. The annual hands-on educational and networking event focuses on maximizing four-season operations and revenue, which makes Killington and its ongoing multi-million dollar investment into summer attractions and activities an ideal location for the event.

“Summer Ops Camp has certainly been a catalyst for our tremendous investment into new summer attractions here at Killington,” said the resort's director of summer operations, and five-year Summer Ops Camp attendee, Rich McCoy. “Every year, I walk away with new ideas, new contacts, and the most current picture of the summer operations landscape in the mountain resort industry.”

During Camp, attendees will be immersed in every facet of summer operations. A variety of experts will be on-hand to discuss marketing/branding, risk management, capital deployment strategies, market research, operations, staffing, and more. Plus, representatives from more than 40 summer-specific vendors will be available to provide details on their latest products and services.

When attendees aren't gaining knowledge and ideas from colleagues and industry experts, they'll go outside for hands-on experience. In the last few years, Killington has opened several new attractions including dual zip lines, an aerial adventure course, free-fall tower, a maze, a Euro-bungee, a Soaring Eagle, and a mining sluice, to name a few. Guided tours will be offered to explore the several miles of new downhill mountain biking trails at the resort. In addition, Killington is conveniently situated near other area attractions that will provide an even wider variety of experiences for Camp attendees.

“Operators will be able to see what the folks at Killington have done and gain inspiration from their approach to becoming a true four-season resort,” said SAM's publisher Olivia Rowan. “The exponential growth of summer business at mountain resorts in recent years makes it even more important to keep up with the latest trends. At Summer Ops, our goal is to give attendees a comprehensive, interactive experience and walk away with actionable ideas.”
