SAM Magazine—Biwabik, Minn., July 10, 2017—Giants Ridge in northern Minnesota has hired industry veteran Fred Seymour as its new general manager. Frederick Seymour esizeSeymour’s prior experience includes time as senior manager of alpine services for Hyland Hills Ski Area in the Three Rivers Park District in Bloomington, Minn., as well as general manager and consultant for four Denver-based properties. Most recently, Seymour was general manager at Hidden Valley Ski Area in Missouri.

Giants Ridge is owned by the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board (IRRRB), a state of Minnesota economic development agency tasked with investing in and supporting opportunities that better the economy in northeastern Minnesota. The IRRRB had operated the resort, which also has two golf courses, since 1984. But on May 1 of this year, Guest Services, Inc., began managing the property.

Barry Trice, vice president of Guest Services Hotel Division said, “We are excited that Fred has accepted and embraced the opportunity to join the on-site team at Giants Ridge, as well as grow the recreation area’s business. His experience is a perfect match to the opportunities at Giants Ridge.”

Leading an on-site team of more than 150 employees, Seymour will oversee skiing, golf, food and beverage, and operations of Giants Ridge.
