SAM Magazine—Windham, N.Y., April 30, 2025—Chip Seamans, a 39-year ski industry veteran who has served as president of Windham Mountain Club (née Windham Mountain) since 2011, has retired from day-to-day operations. Former director of membership Kristen Leach has been promoted to president, effective immediately.
Seamans will continue in an advisory role as chairman through the 2025-26 season. “I am extremely proud of the seasoned team we’ve built over the past 14 years to grow Windham into a premier ski resort in the Northeast, where my love and passion for the ski industry started over 40 years ago,” Seamans said.
Seamans began his career on ski patrol at Sunday River, Maine, and rose to become the resort’s president and managing director. He later held leadership roles at Willis/MountainGuard and Kirkwood Mountain Resort, Calif. At Windham, he guided the organization through multiple ownership changes and a long-range development plan that included its 2023 transition to Windham Mountain Club, a four-season, private members’ club that also offers skiing and riding to the public. He currently serves as chairman of the board of the National Ski Areas Association and is a past chair of Ski Areas of New York.
Leach, a Windham native, joined the organization in 2016 to oversee club and golf course operations. Her role grew to include leadership of food and beverage, special events, marketing, and membership. Most recently, she led a transformation of the club’s membership experience.
“Having grown up in Windham, the mountain and town have always been central to my life,” Leach said. “I’m honored to build upon the impressive foundation established by Chip, our ownership, and passionate team of managers and employees.”
The company also promoted Ian Peters from director of technology to vice president of operations. Peters, who returned to Windham in 2015 after working in technology and finance, will now oversee mountain operations, the ski and ride school, and the new pool and racquet club.
“Learning to ski on this mountain at age 3 sparked a lifelong passion,” Peters said. “In my new role, I’m excited to help our members and guests craft their own lifelong memories in this special setting.”
