SAM Magazine-Denver, Sept. 20, 2007-The Colorado Court of Appeals in Denver has ruled against a massive village at the base of Wolf Creek ski area. The Court upheld a lower court ruling that voided Mineral County's approval of the project, which could have resulted in approximately 2,000 units on 288 acres.

Davey Pitcher, Wolf Creek Ski Area president, had voiced disapproval of the project, spearheaded by Texas billionaire Billy Joe "Red" McCombs McCombs, co-founder of Clear Channel Communications Inc. The project was also opposed by a variety of environmental groups. The Courts ruled that during approval of the project, Mineral County failed to follow state laws requiring year-round access for wheeled vehicles.
