Revelstoke Closes on Selkirk Heli Purchase

  • Push to The Latest: No
SAM Magazine-Revelstoke, B.C., May 3, 2007-Revelstoke Mountain Resort has closed on its purchase of Selkirk Tangiers Heli Skiing, which was announced in January. The deal, worth $6 million, gives Revelstoke Mountain Resort access to 500,000 acres of skiable terrain with annual snowfall that regularly exceeds 40 feet. Combined with the recent acquisition of CAT Powder Skiing, Revelstoke will offer an unusually diverse range of experiences when it opens next year.

Selkirk Tangiers head Peter Schlunegger said his team of expert guides and professionals will remain with the company, and he will assist Revelstoke through the transition with his 30 years of experience in heli-skiing operations.

Revelstoke Mountain Resort will eventually have North America's longest skiable vertical at 6,000 feet. Lift construction began last month on an 8-person gondola and a high-speed quad chairlift, both of which will be operational for next ski season.
