SAM Magazine—Melbourne, Australia, Nov. 13, 2024—The Australian Ski Areas Association (ASAA), which represents the interests of Australia’s ski areas and their stakeholders, has named Josh Elliott as its new chief executive officer.Josh Elliott His appointment comes as the ASAA looks to strengthen its position as a leading advocate for the snow industry in Australia.

Buller general manager Noel Landry. “His extensive experience and innovative mindset will be invaluable as we navigate the evolving landscape of the snow industry. Josh's proven track record in strategic leadership and his passion for our industry make him the perfect fit for this role.”

Elliott was most recently the COO of the Blyton Group, a leisure and entertainment company that operates Charlotte Pass Snow Resort and Selwyn Snow Resort, as well as various other investments in radio stations, hotels, an amusement park, movie theaters, and more. He oversaw Blyton Group’s 2016 acquisition and integration of Selwyn, and also played a key role in the reconstruction and reopening of Selwyn after it was destroyed during the Black Summer bushfires of 2020.

ASAA said Elliott’s appointment “signals a new chapter for the ASAA, as the organization continues to advocate for the interests of its members and promote the unique offerings of Australian ski areas.” One of Elliott’s initial tasks will be to undertake a strategic review of the ASAA and its current priorities.

ASAA’s previous CEO Colin Hackworth died in October. Hackworth led the organization for more than a decade. ASAA wrote a tribute to him.

“Colin's leadership and dedication were instrumental in shaping the ASAA and the Australian ski industry,” said Landry. “His vision and commitment will be remembered and honoured as we continue to build upon the strong foundation he laid.”
