Indy Rebrands Core Pass Product, Reduces Blackout Dates

  • Push to The Latest: No

SAM Magazine—Portland, Ore., April 27, 2022—Indy has rebranded its primary pass product as the Indy Base Pass. The Indy Base Pass—not to be confused with the similar-sounding Ikon Base Pass—will continue to provide two days at Indy’s roster of independent partner resorts, subject to newly reduced blackout dates.IndyPass The Indy+ Pass will remain unrestricted at all resorts.

For the 2022-23 season, Indy has reduced blackout dates at partner resorts by 7 percent compared to last season, with 16 resorts dropping all blackout dates, six partners reducing blackouts, and five adding blackouts for the coming season. In total, 63 of Indy’s 92 resort partners will offer unrestricted access to Indy Base Pass holders.

Ski Marmot Basin in Alberta is not renewing with Indy this year, but the pass product will add five new resorts to its list of partners for the 2022-2023 season: three unrestricted downhill resorts and two cross-country areas, which include Ski Bluewood, Wash., Kelly Canyon, Idaho, Ski Sawmill, Pa., Rikert Nordic Center, Vt., and Enchanted Forest XC, N.M.

“We are thrilled to welcome five new resorts from some of our strongest regions,” said Indy Pass founder Doug Fish. “By adding density in the Pacific Northwest, Pennsylvania, and Vermont, Indy Pass holders have even more uncrowded and affordable skiing and riding options.”

Early bird pricing for the Indy Pass suite ends May 17, after which date prices will increase by $20 to $50 depending on the volume of total early-bird sales.

Kelly Canyon Resort, Idaho, offers 51 trails on 640 acres. Four chairlifts serve the 1,200 vertical foot mountain, which boasts an average snowfall of 200 inches. The family-focused resort is within a three-hour drive from five other Indy-accessed resorts.

Ski Bluewood, Wash., has the second-highest base elevation in Washington, rising 1,100 vertical feet to its summit. Two chairlifts access 24 trails across 400 acres of terrain, with additional powder runs and tree skiing accessible by snowcat.

Ski Sawmill, Pa., offers 515 vertical feet in north-central Pennsylvania. Five lifts serve 13 trails with nearly 100 percent snowmaking coverage. The ski area is less than three hours from five other Indy partners.

Cross-Country

Rikert Nordic Center, Vt., is a cross-country ski area with 34 miles of classic skiing, snowshoeing, and fat biking. Twenty minutes from Middlebury, Vt., the site features both wooded trails and open farmland, as well as Robert Frost’s summer cabin.

Enchanted Forest XC, N.M., has been operating since 1970 and offers 20 miles of cross-country skiing trails, 10 miles of snowshoeing trails, and 3 miles of dog-friendly trails. The area also provides access to expansive backcountry terrain.
