SAM Magazine—Montville, N.J., Sept. 20, 2023—SNOW Partners has appointed Dempsey Mendrzycki as the new general manager of its Big SNOW American Dream indoor ski and snowboard facility, effective immediately. Mendrzycki previously held the role of risk and safety ranger (i.e., director) for both Mountain Creek (N.J.)—also owned by SNOW Partners—and Big SNOW, and will continue managing those responsibilities for both properties in his new role. Dempsey Medrzycki

Mendrzycki got his start in the mountain resort industry working as a lifeguard at Mountain Creek Waterpark and then oversaw the guest experience trail for the resort before moving into risk management. In May, he was recognized by the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) with the Safety Champion award for his work in helping to enhance the safety culture at both resorts.

“Dempsey has taken the lead on safety and risk at Mountain Creek and Big SNOW and, in just over two years, has made a huge impact on the safety culture at our resorts,” said SNOW Partners president Frank DeBerry. “He has embraced his role in risk management and has started new initiatives to look at safety and risk from a different angle, all while working side-by-side with the team to create buy-in and move the needle.”

DeBerry added that Mendrzycki “has shown a rock-solid acumen for running complex operations, and his leadership skills are equally as impressive.”

"I could not be more honored with this opportunity to lead Big SNOW,” said Mendrzycki. “I am so thankful for the teams and leaders I have had the opportunity to work with in my career so far, and I look forward to applying all of my previous experiences toward continuing to grow the brand, team, culture, and guest experiences at Big Snow."
