SAM Magazine—Granby, Colo., May 15, 2024—Indy Pass will preview a digital version of its popular multi-resort ski pass next season.Indy Pass

The mobile pass will be enabled by Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology and rolled out in partnership with three resorts that use Entabeni Systems’ suite of ski area management applications.

Indy Pass was acquired by Entabeni in 2023, and Indy’s hardware and software is already designed, built, and supported by Entabeni, which creates business-to-business and business-to-consumer solutions for independent ski areas.

The rollout resorts for the digital Indy Pass will be Magic Mountain in Vermont, Beaver Mountain in Utah, and Bluewood in Washington.

The cell phone-enabled pass will initially be offered to a select group of Indy Pass holders, who will be able to go directly to the lift and/or tap to redeem tickets at the window utilizing new scanning hardware at the participating resorts.

Indy Pass founder Doug Fish told SAM that the digital pass would be offered to “a subset of the total passholder universe, but we have yet to determine the specific criteria for who or how big that group will be.” Those individuals will be notified via email, and their passes will be digitally enabled to respond to the BLE technology.

“We are not looking at this technology to replace a physical pass on day one, but for most skiers and riders, that will be the future,” said Indy Pass director and Entabeni Systems owner Erik Mogensen. “Indy Pass is committed to making thoughtful and practical iterations over time.”
