SAM Magazine—Denver, June 6, 2024—Alterra Mountain Company has expanded its partnership with payment network Affirm, allowing customers the option to pay over time when purchasing local mountain passes, lodging, and lessons for any of Alterra’s North American destinations.Alterra

The option to use Affirm to split a purchase into monthly payments was previously available to Ikon Pass purchasers in the U.S., and many other multi-resort passes offer split or deferred payment plans.

Skiers and riders have not historically had flexible payment options related to other high-ticket items. Alterra is looking to change that: Affirm will now be available across a wider variety of Alterra booking options, as well as on Ikon Pass purchases in Canada.

“We are continually looking at ways to enhance the purchase experience for our pass holders and destination guests, and Affirm offers flexibility and choice when looking to plan their winter adventures,” said Matt Bowers, senior vice president of Alterra Mountain Company.

By selecting Affirm at checkout, approved consumers can split purchases into monthly payments, with as little as zero interest, says the company. Consumers are shown the total cost of their purchase at checkout, and Affirm promises no late or hidden fees.

“We are proud to deliver increased payment flexibility for Alterra Mountain Company consumers, including those purchasing an Ikon Pass or those seeking lodging, lessons, and more across Alterra’s iconic destinations,” said Pat Suh, SVP of revenue at Affirm. “This expanded partnership positions us to drive even more value as we unlock a wider range of transactions and make Affirm available to even more skiers and riders across the U.S. and Canada.”

Alterra Mountain Company is one of 292,000 Affirm retail partners, including Amazon, American Airlines, SeatGeek, Royal Caribbean, and Priceline.
