SAM Magazine—Banff, Alberta, May 28, 2013—Mt. Norquay has received approval from Parks Canada for a long-range improvement plan for summer and winter operations. The plan calls for widening of trails, renovating the Cliff House lodge and adding an observation deck, and creating a cable-assisted summer hiking trail.

As part of the long range plan, Parks Canada is requiring Mt. Norquay to improve habitat by closing and restoring an existing ski run that is located in a wildlife corridor. The plan also includes a new transportation strategy, in which guests brought up the road to Mt. Norquay in groups to reduce the number of vehicles using the route.

Mt. Norquay hopes to open the Cliff House this summer. Construction on the other elements of the plan will start this summer, and is expected to be completed by 2014.
