Once he arrives at Sugarloaf, Strand will oversee all winter and summer operations. He has managed key segments of Sugarloaf’s operations, as well as those of its sister resort, Sunday River, during the past 10 years. Both areas are owned by Boyne Resorts.
“Karl is the right person to guide the resort into its next chapter and the remaining aspects of the Sugarloaf 2020 vision,” said Stephen Kircher, president of Boyne Resorts’ Eastern Operations. Kircher praised Strand’s “exceptional leadership skills” and “familiarity with Sugarloaf’s unique DNA and his close relationships with team members throughout our network of resorts.”
Strand has been a Sugarloafer since 1987. After graduating from Bryant University, he worked in fine dining venues throughout the U.S. and completed studies at the Culinary Institute of America. He went on to serve various executive positions in the restaurant and resort industry.
