Jacques Hebert, Quebec Icon, Dies

SAM Magazine-St. Sauveur, Que., Mar. 21, 2006-Jacques Hebert, chairman of Mont Saint Sauveur International, which operates Jay Peak and several Quebec areas, died Mar. 17 after a brief illness. He had been involved in managing the company since the 1960s and was an icon in the Quebec ski industry. Under his leadership, the company purchased Jay Peak in 1978, and went private a year ago.

"He was a tremendous leader. The entire valley of Mont Saint Sauveur, which includes several areas, came together under his leadership," said Jay president Bill Stenger. "He had a profound love of the sport and what it does for people."

Hebert is survived by his wife, Irene, 4 children, and 6 grandchildren. A funeral will take place in Montreal on Mar. 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Viateur Church in Outrement, Quebec. \
