Laurel Mountain Won't Operate In 2007

  • Push to The Latest: No
SAM Magazine - Pennsylvania, December 1, 2006 - Laurel Mountain will not fire up the lifts this winter. The Pennsylvania resort, which has been operated by nearby Seven Springs since 2004 has been plagued by a lack of snow and mediocre weather which has prevented snowmaking. The announcement is the latest in a long string of bad news for the resort. George Mowl, who ran the resort from 1999 until 2004, invested millions of dollars in the property only to see his efforts crushed by uncooperative weather patterns. Management at Seven Springs, which ran the resort for a season, faced similar issues, with warm temperatures preventing snowmaking and a dearth of natural snow.
