Snowbasin Resort Plans Major Resort Village

  • Push to The Latest: No
SAM Magazine-Huntsville, Utah, June 17, 2010-Snowbasin Resort has filed a Master Plan with Weber County's Ogden Valley Destination and Recreation Resort Zone to build a sprawling resort village.

The plan calls for up to 2,400 residential units, most of which would be built near the existing base lodge, and encompass hotels, condominiums and townhouses, along with commercial space, ice skating, spas and an amphitheater. New infrastructure would include a wastewater treatment plant, fire station, and employee housing, according to FirstTracksOnline.com.

As part of the master plan, a major terrain expansion would take place near the current Strawberry Gondola, with a second portal created to cut drive time from Salt Lake City. Off-season activities to transform Snowbasin into a year-round resort could include three golf courses, new hiking and biking trails, ziplines and canopy tours, and pond fishing.

If approved, Snowbasin's build-out plan is expected to take 50 years or more, depending on market conditions. Snowbasin is planning a number of public information sessions about the proposal in July.
