New Hampshire Numbers Down--But Not By Much

  • Push to The Latest: No
SAM Magazine--North Woodstock, N.H., June 20, 2007--Ski NH reported a total of 1,960,251 visits for the 2006-07 season, which is three percent less than last season. Thanks to warm temps and little snow in New England for the first half of the season, visits were off in the state by 40 to 60 percent as of Martin Luther King weekend. Once the weather cooperated, New Hampshire resorts were able to make up the considerable deficit.

Cross country skier days came in at 99,231, which was 15 percent over the 2005-06 season. Snowtubing dropped 3.9 percent from the previous season with 91,484 visits.

"Considering ski area business was off by 50 percent in mid-January, to finish the season at nearly the same levels as last season is pretty remarkable," said Alice Pearce, Ski NH's president. "There was pent-up demand and once seasonable weather and snow arrived, so did the skiers and riders."
