NSAA President Declares 60 the new 50

  • Push to The Latest: No
SAM Magazine--Lakewood, Colo., June 29, 2007--In a move designed to address the aging population of Boomer skiers, Michael Berry, president of the National Ski Areas Association, has declared that 60 is the new 50. Ironically, the move coincides with Berry's own 60th birthday tomorrow, June 30.

"Age is a frame of mind," declared Berry, rather loudly. When asked how he was going to get the message out, Berry asked for the question to be repeated, but did answer, "As a card-carrying member of AARP, we will be designing a new ad campaign called "60, 50...What's the Difference?', which will run in AARP magazine and senior living communities around the country."

Berry joins an illustrious and infamous group of people who support the bold move of making 60 the new 50. The following supporters (albeit only one skier) all turn 60 in 2007....Salman Rushdie, Stephen King, Steven Spielberg, OJ Simpson, Cheryl Tiegs, Camilla Parker Bowles, David Bowie, David Letterman, Elton John, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. They are part of the first wave of the 78-million strong Baby Boomers to enter their senior years.

Happy Birthday, Michael! \
