Minturn Voters Favor Private Ski Resort

  • Push to The Latest: No
SAM Magazine-Minturn, Colo., May 27, 2008-Residents of this small mountain town between Vail and Beaver Creek voted 87 percent in favor of development of a private ski and golf resort outside of the community. The ski resort and golf community, a project spearheaded by the Ginn Company, will feature approximately 1,700 homes and condos, an 18-hole golf course and a substantial ski resort.

The vote paves the way for own councilors to give final approval for the plans. At stake for Minturn was the ability for the town to influence development south of town as well as approximately $162 million in benefits that include a new wastewater treatment plant, bike paths and recreational facilities. A substantial number of new jobs will also be created, as well as tax revenues-expected to be $6 million in the second year after the project is approved, and $6 to $10 million per year after five years.
