SAM Magazine-Mammoth Lakes, Calif., July 23, 2008-Joining the growing number of airlines to offer resort access, Horizon Air will inaugurate daily nonstop flights from Los Angeles to Mammoth Mountain for the 2008/2009 season, starting Dec. 18 and running through Apr. 12.

"The addition of commercial air service to Mammoth represents a big step toward realizing our shared vision to become a destination resort community," said Rusty Gregory, CEO of Mammoth Mountain.

Horizon's service will connect to a wide variety of national and international airlines that fly into LAX. The 65-minute flights arrive at Mammoth Yosemite Airport, 15 minutes from Mammoth-cutting travel time to the resort considerably. Service will be via Bombardier Q400 aircraft, a 74/76-seat, high-speed, twin-engine turboprop said to be as quiet and comfortable as a jet, while burning 30 percent less fuel.

For a limited time, introductory fares of $79 each way are available for selected days in January 2009. Regular fares from Los Angeles start as low as $99 each way. \
