Mount Washington Sees Holiday Gains Over Thanksgiving

  • Push to The Latest: No
SAM Magazine - Bretton Woods, NH., December - When it snows, they will come. At least that's the lesson that Chris Ellms, Mount Washington Resort's director of ski operations, is drawing from a Thanksgiving holiday weekend that was up by 22 percent over the previous season at Bretton Woods.

"We're thrilled, of course, but not completely surprised," says Ellms. "We've got snow--we did last year as well, but so did more of the other ski areas. The skiing has been just terrific, and we're looking forward to the approaching holidays with optimism."

The resort's numbers were bolstered not only by solid downhill skiing conditions but the Bretton Woods Nordic Center also opened for the season with 12 km open of trails and a record number of Thanksgiving celebrants descended on the Mount Washington Hotel, with the numbers of Thanksgiving feasters nearly doubling from last year.

"We had families with children who took advantage of the whole package--great snow and skiing at Bretton Woods, a lot of family activities across the resort all weekend, including our annual Thanksgiving buffet feast at The Hotel and Homecoming Weekend at Bretton Woods," says Matt Massei, Mount Washington Resort's GM .
