Goodbye to Another Ski Train

  • Push to The Latest: No
SAM Magazine-London, England, July 13, 2009-The Snow Train, which operated an overnight sleeper service between London and the French Alps, has been discontinued by operator Rail Europe for the coming winter. In operation for 20 years, the service was famous for its high quality staff and low quality rolling stock. It had been reported to be doing well as people switched from air travel to rail last winter, and the Train enjoyed the added bonus of an extra day's skiing in the Alps by travelling overnight to the slopes. However, Rail Europe are blaming the current economic climate for cutting the service.

The Snow Train is the second train this year to stop service. In April 2009, the owner of the Winter Park Ski Train sold the iconic train to Canadian National Railway after almost 70 years of operation.
