SAM Magazine-Alta, Wyo., Sept. 27, 2010-Grand Targhee Resort owner Geordie Gillett is assuming the role of president. He replaces former Targhee president (and general manager) F. Scott Pierpont, who recently left the resort to become vice president of sales for Doppelmayr CTEC.

"We are very proud when our employees are recognized within the industry for their expertise," said Gillett. "Scott helped to position us for long-term success by assembling an incredibly talented management team, and I wish him the best in his new venture."

Karen Cameron will serve as interim general manager. Cameron has been with Grand Targhee Resort for four years as director of risk management and human resources. She had been in the winter resort industry for 12 years prior to joining Targhee, most recently as risk manager for Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.

"I look forward to continuing the vision and values of Grand Targhee that have inspired an extraordinary passion for this resort among our employees and guests," Cameron said.

Other appointments: Jim Costello, director of sales and marketing; Joe Calder, Ski Patrol director; and Pete Kelly, interim director of mountain operations. The resort plans to fill this last position permanently by the start of the 2010-11 winter season.
