“Scanlan comes to us with all the attributes we were looking for—ski area management experience, an orientation towards community-based skiing, and a commitment to living and remaining in Juneau,” said Eaglecrest board of directors president Mike Stanley.

Prior to his time in Maine, Scanlan lived in Hope, Alaska, where he owned and operated Glacier Dyeworks, a company specializing in tie-dye clothing. He also co-founded Mountain Rider’s Alliance, an organization that is focused on supporting small and community ski areas.

Scanlan is currently serving as treasurer of Ski Maine, which represents the 18 ski areas in Maine. In 2016, he won the Ski Industry Professional of the Year Award from the Bethel (Maine) Area Chamber of Commerce.

Scanlan succeeds former Eaglecrest GM Matt Lillard, who left the area in March to become GM at Vermont’s Mad River Glen. Interim general manager Nate Abbott closed out the 2016-17 season following Lillard’s departure.
