SAM Magazine—Canmore, Alberta, Aug. 30, 2024—Switzerland-based wire rope manufacturer Fatzer AG has acquired Canada-based Rocky Mountain Lift Services and Supplies Inc., aka Rigging Specialties.Rigging Specialities HN

Rocky Mountain Lift Services and Supplies Inc. (RMLSS) provides products and services for rope rigging applications as well as rope installations, magnetic resonance testing, and maintenance on lift components such as gearboxes, bullwheel bearings, and sheaves. The company has served the mountain resort industry for more than 35 years, as well as serving non-resort ropeways, structural ropes, and mining.

Fatzer AG develops and manufactures wire ropes for ropeways, cable cars, and structural applications. It supplies its products and services globally. RMLSS has been a Fatzer distribution partner for more than 10 years, according to Fatzer general manager Philipp Enzler, who said RMLSS is also a distributor for other industry-related products for rigging material and will continue with the same portfolio of products and services.

“We are very pleased to build on a long-lasting relationship and to join forces with Fatzer AG,” said RMLSS owner and CEO Franz Spichtig.

Fatzer AG is part of the Swiss BRUGG Group AG, which has global operations in multiple industry sectors. Enzler said this affiliation will allow RMLSS to add services such as rope splicing and additional support and consultation. Conversely, “Fatzer will utilize the expertise of Rocky Mountain Lift Services to provide installation services for our structural cable projects,” said Enzler.

“In Rocky Mountain Lift Services & Supplies Inc., Fatzer has found the right partner to expand in the key market of North America,” said Fatzer AG CEO Martin Bechtold.

The acquisition became effective Aug. 19. According to a press release, the integration phase will focus on continuing the operation of Rocky Mountain Lift Services & Supplies Inc.
