SAM Magazine—Denver, March 9, 2023—Alterra Mountain Company is raising prices on its Ikon Passes roughly 7.5 percent for 2023-24, its sixth season, and is adding new benefits to pass ownership. IkonPassThe full Ikon Pass provides access at up to 54 mountain destinations across the Americas, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. 

When the Ikon Passes go on sale March 16, adult prices will be $1,159 ($1,539 CAD) for the full-access Ikon Pass and $829 ($1,099 CAD) for the Ikon Base Pass, which comes with blackout dates and access to 48 destinations. The two- to four-day Session Passes range from $259 ($339 CAD) to $429 ($559/$569 CAD). 

Child passes for kids ages 5-12 years old are $369 for Ikon, $299 for Ikon Base, and jumps to $519 for the Ikon Base Plus. There is also different pricing for young adults ages 13-22, kids ages 4 and under, military, college, and nurses.

For a limited time, renewal discounts are offered to 2022-23 Ikon Pass holders, with savings of $100 ($130 CAD) for the Ikon Pass and $50 for the Base Pass. Similarly, families can save up to $200 ($280 CAD) on child passes for up to two children ages 5-12 with the purchase of any adult pass.

Among the new benefits are discounts on travel booked via Ikon Pass Travel (a travel planning service), discounts from gear and apparel suppliers Smith and The North Face, and membership in Outside+. Continuing benefits include friends and family discounts, pass deferment, food and beverage discounts, payment plan options, CMH Heli discounts, and membership in Protect Our Winters (POW).

The passes come with a few access changes. Taos Ski Valley, N.M., moves from the Base Pass to Base Plus Pass, and will no longer require lift reservations. For an additional $220 ($290 CAD) from the Ikon Base Pass, Ikon Base Plus Pass holders get five-day access to Taos and to the resorts on last year's Base Plus roster: Jackson Hole, Wyo., Aspen Snowmass, Colo., Deer Valley, Alta, and Snowbasin, Utah, and Sun Valley, Idaho. Deer Valley will require lift reservations.

The Ikon Pass and Base Plus Pass provide access to 54 destinations; the Base Pass, 47.

New-to-Ikon passholders (full and Base) who buy early this spring get access this season to 13 Alterra resorts—some immediately upon purchase, others at start dates during April. Buyers of the four-day Session Pass do not have spring 2023 access.
