SAM Magazine—Ludlow, Vt., April 19, 2022—A busy industry events season gathers steam this week with the 45th annual Lift Maintenance Seminar, which began yesterday at Jiminy Peak, Mass. After two years of canceled events and virtual gatherings, in-person events appear to be back in full swing and industry interest looks healthy judging by early registration numbers.

The National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) just released a second hotel block for its National Convention in Nashville, May 12-15. And according to Pacific Northwest Ski Areas Association (PNSAA) president Jordan Elliott, demand for his organization’s April 26-28 Mountain Works Conference is up slightly over the well-attended 2019 conference.
“We’ve seen around 300-330 participants for years, but we were hugging 400 in 2019,” he told SAM. “For our 2022 gathering, we have 415 or so registrants as of this morning, and from what I hear, more are still coming in,” a testament to the industry’s appetite for in-person sharing (and socializing) as Covid loosens its grip on our activities and psyche.
