SAM Magazine—Teton Village, Wyo., Dec. 2, 2021—Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) increased its minimum wage for all non-tipped positions from $15 per hour to $18 per hour, effective immediately. JHMRlogoThe wage increase aims to help with employee recruitment and retention by supporting staff to live and work in the Jackson Hole community.

“We continue to invest in our employees, specifically with increased wages and housing opportunities, because we believe that providing additional means of support is imperative to retaining the fabric of this community as a whole,” said JHMR president Mary Kate Buckley. “This investment speaks to the value all our employees provide to Jackson Hole and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.”

This is the second minimum wage increase JHMR has implemented this year. Additionally, JHMR has made several other investments in staff this year, including a cost-of-living increase for all employees, the opening of the Stilson North housing development, and the acquisition of additional seasonal housing options for this winter. The resort has several future housing opportunities in development as well.

Jackson Hole, Wyo., is notorious for its dearth of affordable housing, and competition for frontline and back-of-house employees has been steep this summer. Back in June, local businesses were advertising entry level jobs with starting rates well above the federal minimum wage: Wendy’s was advertising $18-$25.50/hr for cashiers, and Whole Foods was advertising $21/hr for dishwashers.
