Mad River Mountain to Build New Base Lodge

  • Push to The Latest: No

The new facility will be nearly double the size of the old lodge. It will have an 800-seat dining area as well as a second floor bar with seating for more than 300 guests. All skier services will operate out of the lodge except for the ski and snowboard rental shop, allowing the ski area to remove two existing base area buildings. The new lodge will also house administrative offices.

“Through consolidating most skier services into a single large structure focused on efficiencies, the guest experience is greatly enhanced,” said Jason Boyd of Peak Resorts, the parent company of Mad River Mountain. “This new base lodge will be an exciting addition at Mad River Mountain, allowing for better views of the ski slopes, increased seating throughout, elevator access to the second level, and spacious outdoor seating opportunities.”

The new lodge will feature some familiar characteristics of the old facility, which was popular with guests and locals thanks to its unique charm. It will feature a large cathedral-style ceiling with open beams on the second floor, along with signature stained glass windows akin to those at the former Loft Bar.

“It was important to rebuild and improve upon the lodge, while also maintaining some of the characteristics that made the Loft special,” added Boyd.

Construction of the new lodge is scheduled to be complete by Nov. 1, 2016.
