Mt. Timothy, B.C., Joins Mountain Playground Group

  • Push to The Latest: No

“The Mountain Playground Group is a solutions-based approach for standalone ski areas to work together and ensure a better chance of survival, as well as provide a layer of sophistication not commonly found at the smaller ski area level,” said Jamie Schectman, CEO and co-founder of the Mountain Rider’s Alliance, a group dedicated to the success of community ski areas and also facilitator of the Mountain Playground Group.

The consortium is designed to raise awareness of the authenticity and uniqueness of the seven participating ski areas. Operators at the member ski areas band together to help increase skier visits by sharing best practices and marketing strategies.

"Mt. Timothy is excited to participate in the Mountain Playground Group as we continue to identify ways to be more efficient, build brand awareness, and be more profitable,” said Caroline Sherrer, Mt. Timothy general manager.

To complement the program, the Mountain Playground Card is being sold at the introductory price of U.S. $29 for one year of savings. Cardholders will receive 2 for 1 midweek lift tickets to Mt. Timothy as well as benefits on items such as ski and snowboard equipment, retail goods, vacation rentals, tours, and more. Each participating ski area offers some form of discount to cardholders.

Fifteen percent of all sales of the cards will be donated to SheJumps, a 501(c) 3 non-profit whose mission is to increase the participation of women and girls in outdoor activities.
