According to reports, Fortun is a regular at the resort and owns condominium units in Morning Star Lodge at Silver Mountain. “This is my favorite ski resort anywhere in the world, and we are excited to be part of it,” Fortun said. “We plan to ‘up the stoke,’ take the resort to the next level and become the preferred year around destination resort in the Pacific Northwest.”

Jeld-Wen, a window and door manufacturer based in North Carolina, owned Silver Mountain for 20 years and first had a deal in place to sell it in 2013, but the deal fell through.

Bunker Hill Mining Co. originally opened the ski area as Jackass Ski Bowl in 1967. It was re-named Silver Mountain in 1990. The resort’s terrain occupies two mountains, each more than 6,200 feet in elevation. It has 73 named trails covering nearly 1,600 acres of skiable terrain with 2,200 feet of vertical served by seven lifts, including a three-mile-long gondola.
