SAM Magazine—Lakewood, Colo., Dec. 20, 2021— The Professional Ski Instructors of America and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (PSIA-AASI) published a new manual, Teaching Children Snowsports, to support instructors in helping kids learn to ski and ride. PSIAA

With NSAA estimating more than half of ski and snowboard lessons are taught to kids nationally each winter, PSIA-AASI CEO Nicholas Herrin believes the opportunity presented for conversion has never been greater. “Every children’s lesson is an opportunity to inspire a lifelong love of snowsports,” said Herrin.

“This new resource provides the snowsports industry with on-snow teaching tips, insight into how kids think, react, and socialize, and information about how they grow and learn to move,” he adds. “Instructors can use this manual to help welcome all children into the snowsports community and provide them with a positive experience.”

Teaching Children Snowsports, available in print and digital formats, integrates text, images, and videos to provide instructors with tips and insight they can apply to their lessons. Mark Aiken and Kevin Jordan co-authored the manual, with input from other field experts.

Jordan is a member of the PSIA-AASI National Team and the Rocky Mountain Division Children’s Education Training Team. Aiken is a PSIA-AASI Eastern Division Advanced Children’s Educator Team member.

Print and digital copies are available through the PSIA-AASI online shop.
