SAM Magazine—Revelstoke, B.C., Sept. 7, 2018—Dave Brownlie has been named Revelstoke Mountain Resort’s new president. Brownlie started his industry career nearly 30 years ago as Blackcomb Mountain’s director of finance and eventually became Whistler Blackcomb president and CEO, and finally COO. He Dave Brownlie Revelstoke presidentstepped down from that role more than a year ago.

“I am excited to be joining the team at RMR to develop and execute plans to build a truly iconic Canadian mountain resort that will attract mountain enthusiasts from around the world,” said Brownlie. “The natural attributes of the mountain, the consistent snowfall, and the many outdoor activities in the region combined with a vibrant and authentic community uniquely positions RMR to become a leader as a year-round destination mountain resort.”

In resort years, Revelstoke is practically new, having just celebrated its 10th anniversary last season. Brownlie takes over as the resort is poised for continued growth and development, a situation he has vast experience in. While at Whistler Blackcomb, Brownlie led the merger of Whistler and Blackcomb, ushered the installation of the Peak 2 Peak gondola, oversaw successful 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, and played a key role in negotiating a 60-year master development plan for the resort.

As Revelstoke president, Brownlie will provide leadership and support to the mountain operations, heli-skiing, and real estate development teams.

“We are excited to have Brownlie join the team, bringing his knowledge, experience, and leadership to RMR as we launch the next phase of development,” said Tom Gaglardi, president and CEO of Northland Properties, Revelstoke Mountain Resort’s parent company. “[Brownlie] will be a tremendous asset to our company and is exactly the person we need to help execute our vision.”
