SAM Magazine—Natick, Mass., Feb. 10, 2022— SAM Magazine has raised over $2,500 for non-profit causes since November 2021.social good HN Those proceeds, a percentage of SAM Magazine subscriptions and Summit Series Leadership Bootcamp registration, will be donated to four 501(c)3 organizations: Share Winter, Winter4Kids, the National Brotherhood of Skiers, Inc., and the Sierra Education Foundation.

“We’ve always been committed to supporting the ski industry through content, education, information, and programming,” said SAM magazine publisher Olivia Rowan. “Thank you to our subscribers and bootcamp participants for helping us in that mission. With these contributions, we aim to champion the people on the ground making things happen—be they staff recovering from loss, like those at Sierra-at-Tahoe, or leaders developing the next generation of snowsports participants. Our industry is at its best when we lift each other up, and SAM is committed to doing what we can to support that, from coverage to education to donations.”

SAM ran a fundraising campaign to support Sierra-at-Tahoe, Calif., employees impacted in the Caldor Fire, which ravaged the mountain in late August 2021. For every new or renewed subscription during the months of December 2021 and January 2022, SAM is donating $10 to resort employees through the Sierra Education Foundation. James Niehues also graciously donated five of his books, “The Man Behind the Maps,” to support the campaign. The books were awarded to new and renewing subscribers: Kerry Metcalf, Mass.; Tim Beck, N.H.; Jon Gregory, Pa.; Patrick Smith, Wash.; and a recipient from Oregon. The total donation to the Sierra Education Foundation was $1,500.

Through a percentage of registration profits, the Summit Series Leadership Bootcamps raised $1,050 for non-profit causes this fall. The proceeds were split between Share Winter, Winter4Kids, and the National Brotherhood of Skiers, Inc., to support efforts to attract and retain new and diverse snowsports participants. The bootcamps feature five topics: Changing Culture, Sustainability, Career Development, Guest Experience, and Leading Change. Registration and access are on-going, and SAM will continue to donate six percent of bootcamp registration proceeds to these organizations throughout 2022.
