Ski California to Host Lift Maintenance and Ops Conference

  • Push to The Latest: No

“We are very excited to bring lift maintenance and operations education back to California and Nevada with the LMOE conference,” said Ski California president Mike Reitzell. “We’ve put together an excellent slate of speakers to conduct both classroom and on-the-hill education at a world-class location in Squaw Valley.”

The event will begin with a keynote address from Reitzell, Boreal president and GM Amy Ohran, and Squaw Valley VP of lift operations Casey Blann.

The course schedule features a variety of industry experts covering all aspects of lift ops and maintenance, including mechanical, documentation, testing, incident investigation, inspections, training, and more.

The curriculum offers two opportunities for attendees to earn recognition of their attendance in the tracks of "Essentials," and "Lift Operations." Essentials courses are designed to offer education on the fundamentals of lift maintenance. Lift Operations courses cover all aspects of the subject. Attendees who attend six courses in each track will receive a certificate from Ski California recognizing completion of the curriculum.

An industry tradeshow will be held in conjunction with the conference. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and network with several industry manufacturers and suppliers during trade show hours, which coincide with breakfast, lunch, and evening receptions.

Reitzell aims to leverage technology to make the event user-friendly and efficient, starting with registration. “All registration is electronic, and I am going to encourage our speakers to put their materials on the website as well, eliminating the need for stacks of paper at the conference,” he said. “Plus, attendees will print out their badges upon arrival, and each badge will have a QR code that will be scanned at each class to record their attendance.”

The registration fee for staff of Ski California member resorts is $195 per person, and $295 for non-members. All aspects of the conference are included in the registration fee.
