Skidata Sold to Swedish Access Solution Group Assa Abloy

SAM Magazine—Stockholm, Sweden, July 23, 2024—Swedish locking and security systems manufacturer Assa Abloy Group has entered into an agreement to purchase Skidata from Swiss business technology firm the Kudelski Group. HN Ski Data

Skidata provides access management solutions to mountain resort operations and others in the sport and entertainment industries. It is headquartered in Salzburg, Austria, with roughly 1,280 employees, and will continue to operate as a separate business within the entrance systems division of Assa Abloy. 

“This ensures that we will maintain our established Skidata brand identity while accessing greater resources and expanding our market reach,” said Iris Perz, a representative for Skidata. “This partnership is anticipated to open new growth opportunities across Europe, North America, and other global markets by leveraging the complementary strengths of both companies.”

“Skidata's attractive product portfolio and strong performance in access solutions will enhance and complement our current offering,” echoed Massimo Grassi, executive vice president of Assa Abloy and head of the entrance systems division for the company. “Its commitment to secure, reliable access solutions and excellent customer service aligns perfectly with our values, and I’m convinced that together, we will continue our successful journey.”

The transaction, subject to regulatory approval and closing conditions, is expected to close during the third quarter of 2024. Skidata is valued at EUR 340 million (US$ 369 million) in the financial terms of the deal.
