SAM Magazine—Jeffersonville, Vt., May 9, 2022—Smugglers’ Notch, Vt. will offer free, full-time childcare for all employees. smuggs childcare children 440x340The benefit will be rolled out in phases beginning this month, and it applies to full-day care for children ages 6 weeks to 3 years old as well as some offerings for older children on days when an employee is working. Discounted childcare is available on days when employees are not working for the resort.

“Over the last few years, we’ve seen the challenge finding and paying for childcare has had on working families throughout Vermont. We’re committed to improving our employees' working environment and one way to do that is to include childcare as a benefit,” said Smugglers’ Notch owner Bill Stritzler. In doing so, said Stritzler, the resort aims to remove childcare as an obstacle to finding quality prospective employees.

Under the new policy, children ages 6 weeks to 3 years will have access to the resort’s on-site Treasures childcare center, constructed in 2002. Older children will be able to participate in full-day camps and activities around the resort campus.

The childcare benefit will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
