“What [has] happened in West Virginia, and indeed right in our back yard, is unthinkable, but in fact we are thinking about it every day,” said Snowshoe president and COO Frank DeBerry. “Our employees, our friends, and our neighbors need help. They've lost a lot. The saving grace is that we know how well West Virginians come together to overcome anything.

“We also know that our guests and property owners from all over the Southeast truly love our area and the people, and that they too are seeking ways to help. Employees from all across the Intrawest resort network and indeed throughout the mountain sports industry nationwide have asked how they can help. Together with the Snowshoe Foundation we already have the tools in place to help, and along with our own donation this is the very least we can do,” DeBerry said.

In addition to the disaster relief fund, the resort has also started a canned food drive and organized 50/50 raffles to raise additional money for flood relief. Canned foods can be dropped off at The Depot or the Allegheny Springs front desk, which are both located in the Village at Snowshoe. The next 50/50 drawing will take place on Saturday, July 2, in conjunction with the resort’s Homegrown Music & Arts Festival and Community Appreciation Day.
