New marketers in the Rockies: Matt Gebo has joined Taos Ski Valley as director of marketing, and is responsible for the development and management of all branding, marketing and communications efforts for the resort. Telluride Ski Resort has chosen Matthew Windt to serve as its new VP of sales and marketing. John Burton now serves as Timberline’s director of marketing.

Rob Perlman has been named the president and chief operating officer of Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation.

Jim Kercher is the new senior director of the Mountain Sports School at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.

Keystone Resort has named Steve Nguyen as its new hospitality executive chef.

In the East, Douglas Zecher has been appointed director of ski patrol for Bromley Mountain. . . . Trapp Family Lodge has appointed Drew Gelinas the new director of sports.
Elia Hamilton has been appointed the new chairman of F27.70, an ASTM snow sports subcommittee tasked with developing new standards for freestyle terrain jump features.

The SnowSports Industries America (SIA) Board of Directors has chosen Nick Sargent, former vice president of global business alliance at Burton Snowboards, as its incoming president. Sargent was to begin in a transitional role Aug. 24 and then succeed David Ingemie as president after the 2016 SIA Snow Show.»

The general manager of Big Sky Resort, Taylor Middleton, has received the Chet Huntley Lifetime Achievement Award from the Big Sky Chamber of Commerce.

Former Red Mountain Resort GM Jim Greene has joined the faculty of Selkirk College and its Ski Resort Operations & Management Program (SROAM).

Forest Carey, a U.S. Ski Team Coach, was named the new executive director of the Jackson Hole Ski and Snowboard Club’s board of directors.

Mark Dorsey has resigned as CEO of ASEA/PSIA/AASI and taken the position of CEO at Construction Specifications Institute (CSI).

POWDER announced several changes to its staff. John Clary Davies has been promoted to executive editor. Julie Brown is the new associate editor. Tyler Hartlage has been appointed the new art director and Sierra Davis the new assistant editor.

Blizzard/Tecnica has made several additions to its promotional team. Frank Shine is the brand creative manager. Bart Tuttle is now Tecnica ski boot product development manager. In addition to his role as New England promotions coordinator, Steve Brown also serves as national pro program coordinator. Joe Sipe is the new Western promotions coordinator. Tom Sipe continues as Minnesota promotions coordinator.


OBITUARIES
Richard Daniel “Dick” Bass, the co-founder of Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort and first person to climb the seven summits, died July 26 at the age of 85. See more at saminfo.com.

Nordic athlete, coach and GM of Frisco, Colo., Adventure Center Jon “Zeke” Zdechlik died on July 18th.

Virginia Frances Lee Upham, owner of Loveland Ski Area, Colo., died July 13 at the age of 91.
