SAM Magazine—Savoie, France, July 2, 2024—French industrial group MND opened a new cable transport production and assembly facility in Savoie, France.MND The facility cost 10 million euros (roughly $10.5 million) and is dedicated specifically to production of the group’s new Orizon range of gondolas and chairlifts.

“This is an important step for our group, which will enable us to consolidate our position as a global player and win new market shares in a rapidly developing sector,” said MND CEO Xavier Gallot-Lavallée. “This investment is a strong marker of our attachment to the reindustrialization of the territory in the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region as well as to ‘Made in France’ (the company’s commitment to domestic production).”

The new site, near the group's headquarters based in Sainte-Hélène-du-Lac, is part of a 12-acre campus with production facilities dedicated to other lines of MND business, including ropeways, snowmaking systems, and leisure activities such as zip lines and mountain coasters. The company expects the new facility to create about 100 new jobs in the region. 

As part of its commitment to the decarbonization of its industrial activities, MND plans to cover the new facility with 21,500 square feet of photovoltaic panels, which will produce up to 650,000 kWh per year in addition to the 130,000 kWh that are already produced by existing installations on the campus.
