Patrol Strike Averted At The Canyons

  • Push to The Latest: No
SAM Magazine - The Canyons, Utah, December 27, 2006 - The only unionized ski patrol in Utah has come to a tentative agreement with their employers, thus averting a strike over the holiday season. The Canyon's ski patrol, which is represented by the Communications Workers of America, had been working since the resort opened for the 2006-2007 winter without a contract. While details of the agreement remain confidential, the patrollers had - according to union spokesman Kent Anderson - voted for a strike to put pressure on the resort to resolve negotiations. The agreement brings the standoff to a close and ensures that the boys in red will continue to haul wrecks off the mountain in the new year.
