SAM Magazine—Saint Paul, Minn., Nov. 1, 2024—The Midwest Ski Areas Association (MSAA) has named Bo Bigelow as its next executive director, effective today. His predecessor Amy Reents stepped down in October after leading MSAA for more than eight years. Bo Bigelow

Bigelow will continue to serve as executive director of the Minnesota Ski Areas Association, a role he’s held since 2020.

“As we welcome Bo to this role, I am confident he will bring both energy and experience,” said MSAA board chairman Jonathan Davis. “The board was unanimous in its decision to hire Bo, a reflection of our shared confidence in his leadership. Bo’s track record, along with the strong and respected relationships he’s built within the National Ski Areas Association, exemplifies his dedication to the industry. I look forward to seeing the positive impact his leadership will bring to our members and the broader Midwest ski community.”

Bigelow has roughly 17 years of ski association experience, spending the first 13 of those years at Ski Maine where he ultimately served as the association’s events and programs director and was responsible for running the annual New England Summit conference and trade show.

“I am excited to return to running a regional industry show and to work closely with all the ski areas, industry partners, vendors and sponsors who make the Midwest a dynamic place for skiing and snowboarding,” said Bigelow. “Building on the legacies that Amy Reents and Chris Stoddard have created, I look forward to advancing our mission, strengthening our association, and promoting the continued growth of winter sports throughout the Midwest.”

Reents shared her congratulations for the new appointment: “Having worked alongside Bo over the past several years through his involvement with the Minnesota Ski Areas Association, I’ve gained a deep respect for his dedication and the impact he’s made in our industry. His passion for the success of our region’s ski areas is truly inspiring, and I look forward to collaborating with him in the coming months to ensure a smooth transition.”

Bigelow’s deep industry insights and commitment to fostering strong vendor partnerships will ensure that the MSAA continues to deliver valuable trade show events and resources for members, all while promoting operational success and industry sustainability. His appointment signals a bright future for the MSAA.
