SAM Magazine—Jamesville, N.Y., July 26, 2018—Ski Areas of New York, Inc. (SANY) and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) have collaborated on a new program to help ski areas in the state purchase energy-efficient snowmaking guns. The program will provide up to $5 million for New York ski areas to upgrade and expand their snowmaking operations.

SnowGunWeb “With a maximum of $300,000 in funding allowed per resort we have insured the $5,000,000 will be equitably dispersed to all our ski areas, both large and small,” said SANY president Scott Brandi. Funds will be provided at an 80/20 match, with 80 percent of the funds paid by the program and 20 percent paid by the ski area, subject to maximum funding based on snow gun type.

SANY president Scott Brandi praised NYSERDA’s responsiveness to SANY’s request for assistance with this initiative and said, “We are very grateful to Governor Cuomo, the State Legislature and NYSERDA for their support.”
